Benefits and Uses of Argan Oils

1. Contains Essential Nutrients

Moroccan argan oil is mostly made up of fatty acids and different phenolic substances. The acids oleic and linoleic make up most of the fat in argan oil.

About 29–36% of the fatty acids in argan oil are linoleic acid, also called omega6. This makes it a good source of these important substances.

Even though it isn’t necessary, oleic acid makes up 43–49% of the fatty acids in argan oil. It is also a very healthy fat.

Olive oil also has oleic acid, which is good for heart health. Argan oil is also a good source of vitamin E, which is important for healthy skin, hair, and eyes.

This vitamin is also a very strong antioxidant.

Argan oil is a good source of two fats known to be good for your health: linoleic and oleic fatty acids. It also has a lot of vitamin E.

2. Contains Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Most of the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of argan oil may come from the different phenolic chemicals that are found in it.

Vitamin E, or tocopherol, is found in high amounts in argan oil. Tocopherol is a fat-soluble vitamin that works as a powerful antioxidant to lessen the harmful effects of free radicals (1). Other substances in argan oil, like CoQ10, melatonin, and plant sterols, also contribute to its protective power.

Recent studies have shown that mice given argan oil before being exposed to highly inflammatory liver toxins have much lower inflammatory marker levels than mice not given argan oil.

Some studies also show that argan oil can be used directly on the skin to help reduce swelling caused by accidents and infections.

The results look good, but more study needs to be done to find out how argan oil can treat inflammation and oxidative stress in people.

3. May Boost Heart Health

Omega-9 monounsaturated fat is found in argan oil.

Oleic acid is also found in avocado and olive oil, among other foods, and it is thought to protect the heart.

A small study on humans found that argan oil has the same effect on blood antioxidant levels as olive oil when lowering the risk of heart disease.

In another small human study, people who ate a lot of argan oil had lower amounts of the “bad” LDL cholesterol and more antioxidants in their blood.

For example, in a study of 40 healthy people and their risk of heart disease, those taking 15 grams of argan oil daily for 30 days saw their “bad” LDL and cholesterol levels drop by 16% and 20%, respectively.

With these hopeful results, more research needs to be done to learn more about how argan oil can help keep the heart healthy.

Argan oil can slow the growth and growth of certain cancer cells. In the test-tube study, a polyphenol compound made from argan oil was applied to prostate cancer cells.

The extract suppressed the growth of cancer cells by 50% compared to the control group.

In another test-tube study, a pharmaceutical blend of argan oil and vitamin E increased cell death rates in breast and colon cancer cell samples.

This preliminary study is fascinating, but more research is needed to determine if argan oil can treat human cancer.

Summary: Some test-tube studies have shown the potential cancer-fighting effects of argan oil, but more research is needed.

6. Reduces Signs of Aging

Argan oil quickly increased the fame ladder and is now one of the most important ingredients in skin care products.

Some studies show that taking argan oil may slow aging by reducing inflammation and toxic stress.

Putting it on your skin helps repair and keep your skin healthy and reduces the signs of age that you can see.

Some tests on humans have shown that postmenopausal women’s skin gets more flexible and has more water when they eat argan oil or get it directly on their skin.

In the end, there needs to be more testing on people.

7. May Treat Some Skin Conditions

Argan oil has been used at home for many years to treat skin conditions that cause inflammation.

Even more so in North Africa, where the argan tree first grew. Even though there isn’t a lot of scientific proof that argan oil can treat some skin infections, it is often used for this reason.

On the other hand, recent studies show that argan oil contains several anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds that may be good for skin tissue.

Remember that we need to do more study.

Argan oil has been used for a long time to treat skin problems, but there isn’t much proof that it works. But chemicals that stop inflammation can help skin tissue.

8. Promote Wound Healing

Argan oil can speed up the time it takes for a cut to heal. In tests on animals, giving argan oil twice a day for 14 days to rats with two burns helped them heal more quickly.

In one study, eating argan oil and putting it on the skin made the skin of elderly women more moist.

There are no studies that show how argan oil can be used to improve the health of hair. Still, some studies have shown that other vegetable oils with the same nutritional value can fix split ends and other kinds of hair damage. So that means it seems like you can do it.

Many people use argan oil to soothe their skin and hair. Several studies show that the fatty acids in argan oil can help keep skin and hair healthy and hydrated and reduce damage to the hair.

Some sources claim that argan oil is an effective treatment for acne, but rigorous scientific research does not support it.

However, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds in argan oil help reduce the redness and inflammation of the skin caused by acne.
Argan oil also helps moisturize the skin.

This is important for acne prevention.

Whether argan oil is effective in treating acne depends on the cause. If you are suffering from dry skin or general inflammation, argan oil may be the solution. However, if hormones are causing acne, argan oil is unlikely to provide significant relief.
